What is Tina Fey Doing There?
Okay, this Sarah Palin thing has me kinda stumped. I can only think of two scenarios that would explain someone so completely unqualified being chosen as a Veep candidate.
One idea is that John McCain is a complete, wildcatting moron. Or egomaniac. He either had the simplistic idea that a woman would take all the Hillary malcontents from the Dems, or he figures that he will look stronger and more capable if a female Dan Quayle is standing next to him.
The other possibility is that the Republican party is officially trying to throw this election. Thoughts like that are always proceeded in my mind by, “Nobody is really capable of doing something like that, are they?” But then I think back on Iraq. And hanging chads. And everything else Karl Rove has insinuated into the democratic process. And I think that Republicans are capable of almost anything.
It would certainly explain why McCain is the candidate. The expiration date on his body is neck and neck with the one on his credibility. And it would explain why the Tina Fey lookalike is on a major party ticket. It ain’t because of her experience. And did you see the look on McCain’s face as she was injudiciously usurping Hillary’s 18 million cracks? He alternated between expressions of “Will this be over soon?” and “I’m sorry, who are you?” Was he even part of the selection process?
Crazy old man or cunning long-term strategists? Whom, I ask you, is responsible for this?
Update: If Internet news stories are to be believed, Palin’s pro-gun, anti-abortion beliefs are making all the “social conservatives” jump for joy and cry jubilant tears. Mind you, this may be only the three people who were interviewed for the story, but it’s altogether possible that part of the Repub base has found “one of their own,” and are reapplying for Evil Empire membership.
I don’t understand my country a lot of the time.

Maybe they chose her for “WTF??” value?
First time I saw her, I totally said she looked like Tina Fey. Except Tina Fey actually has brains. Just like McCain to surround himself with idiots.
