SYTYCD 7 - Results Show

I really liked tonight’s opening number. When the music started getting manipulated, I had the feeling it was a Mia number, but the dance itself gave me more of a Wade vibe. But I really enjoyed it, and hats off to Mia. I haven’t always grooved on her work in the last while, but tonight I was a buy-in.

After the half-hour commercial for Adam’s new movie, I found myself fast-forwarding through all the other stale musical acts. They did pull a bit of showmanship with the reveal of the bottom three, when they pulled the switcheroo with Rawrrbert being safe and Lauren being in the bottom.

I thought Billy’s solo was utterly interesting, probably the best of the three tonight (even though Lauren was perfectly fine and a very respectable effort). I’m sure we were all suspecting Lauren would have no trouble making it through, but as I look back there was something disingenuous about the judging (again): there was no way they could have done that intricate farewell package to Jose and Billy unless they had plenty of advance warning (this was a live show, right?). So what that means is, everybody knew who the bottom three were (not necessarily a surprise), but they had also made their decision — hours before showtime — who was leaving. Just one more reason I’m not considering this a competition any longer.

I’m happy Rawrrrrbert will be continuing, though I’m a little sad we won’t see any further Billy (but it seemed to me that Nigel’s snarky little comment about him keeping his feet on the ground alluded to some diva behavior involved in that knee-injury business last week). But…Lauren and Rawrrbert and Kent. Oh my. (Yeah, I know, Adechike’s in there too. He’s okay.)

I thought the same thing about the package. Nigel has already said they find out earlier in the day. For me it mostly it makes his final comments totally disingenuous and self-serving. My world is almost back to normal. The out-classed dancer is gone, my top 3 are still in the running and the voters are in charge. Now if they’d just pair Mark and Rawrbert in a jazz number…

Going to the show Wed and planning to make a Rawrbert sign :D

    Have fun, Margot! Rawrr.
